Proud to be an American (for the first time in 8 years)

Amazing – Obama won Pennsylvania (obviously because of my absentee ballot sent from Kyrgyzstan!) AND Virginia (who hasn’t voted for a Democratic president in 44 years). I’ve been sort of verklempt all night but I felt it would be too lame to cry out of happiness….

I ran out into the street once Obama was declared president-elect and people had fireworks going off and set up in the middle of intersections (some stupid SUV was just sitting at the intersection waiting for some fireworks to stop and it finally backed the shit up – awesome).  There was this other guy in our street saying “Yeah!  We got i!  Let’s take the rest!  It’s dinner time” – also awesome.  I popped my Chimay and then my roommates and I head over to Red Derby (where they had been broadcasting the campaign all night) and it was still super crowded  – people were beeping there horns as they drove by (seeing the crowd outside the bar at 12am on a Tuesday night) and some guy agressively gave me and Alison a hug (it sort’ve hurt).  Here are some pictures and a vid!
